As is expected from any Soulslike or Metroidvania title, a Tutorial Boss is present in Blasphemous 2, the Faceless One, Chisel of Oblivion, in this case. While this encounter isn't overly complex, it is an excellent opportunity to showcase the importance of learning attack patterns and how they're telegraphed. It will prove unimaginably useful across the remaining ten boss encounters.

Being the tutorial boss of Blasphemous 2, Faceless One doesn't offer much of a reward for besting them, nor do they put up much of a challenge. They will be the first enemy you encounter in your long journey, but they will teach you the importance of reading and reacting to attacks!

As mentioned above, Faceless One is the obligatory tutorial boss you must overcome before you can begin your adventure 'for real.'

Fortunately, they only possess three attacks they will cycle through, which we will cover in great detail in the sections below. If you are struggling with timing or reading their attacks, the sections below will hopefully shed some light on the nuances of each attack, showing you how to properly read and react to them!

Faceless One will open the encounter by throwing its large, spiked wheel into the ground before you. While this is a very cool way to make an entrance, this is also one of their attacks that they will toss out periodically throughout the battle.

This move is telegraphed by the Faceless One leaping high into the air before they stall momentarily and hurl the large spiked wheel toward you. You will receive sizable damage if the wheel hits you, so you must avoid it at all costs.

Luckily, as soon as you see the Faceless One leap into the air, wait until he pauses to throw the wheel, then begin dashing forward until you are out of the wheel's trajectory. The Faceless One will land in front of you, allowing you to follow up with your own attacks!

Immediately after their Wheel Toss ability, the Faceless One will call the wheel back to them, having it roll across the ground and back into their arms again. Keep this in mind, as you will have to be ready to jump over it as it returns to the Faceless One, especially if you are currently attacking them.

As soon as you see the Faceless One extend their arm outward, stop attacking, and prepare yourself to jump over the wheel, as that's when it will begin moving back to them. After it's back into the arms of the Faceless One, they will either do another Wheel Toss or the Spinning Wheel attack.

The third and final attack of the Faceless One is the Spinning Wheel, which has them violently spin forward across the arena, dealing mass damage if it comes in contact with you. Overall, this ability is easy to avoid once you know its sign, but it can be tricky regarding timing.

If you see the Faceless One lift the wheel above their head and begin spinning it with a trail of blood flowing over it, they are about to perform the Spinning Wheel attack. This is the only attack that has the color red appear when they're on the ground, so as soon as you see it, prepare to evade it.

To evade this attack, you will have to time your jump and leap over the Faceless One just before they reach you. Once you land, you can quickly dash toward them and land several attacks of your own. If you can't reach them, don't worry, you will still have plenty of other opportunities to land attacks on them!

Additionally, since this attack ends with the wheel remaining in the Faceless One's possession, they will either follow it up with yet another Spinning Wheel or the Wheel Toss attacks, so be on guard after getting a few hits in. Don't get overly greedy. Only two to three hits will be more than enough.

Depending on the starting weapon you chose, you might be able to get a few more hits in during their recovery period for each attack. However, we strongly suggest sticking to two to three hits at most, as that will still deal decent amounts of damage while also giving you ample time to react and evade their next attack!
